How to Approach Kink and Polyamory Clients in Therapy
Many of our clients are identifying with alternative lifestyles such as kink and polyamory. While many clinicians are working with these clients, they may have little or no understanding about what these terms mean or how to best serve these clients. This webinar will help clinicians gain a basic understanding of Kink and Polyamorous lifestyles, a discussion about sexual ethics, and suggestions for how clinicians can offer the best quality care to these clients.
It will discuss sexual ethics, therapeutic ethics, and acceptance based practices. It is meant to be a sex positive approach for working with Kink and Poly clients. In this presentation, Angela will explore alternative lifestyles as a healthy form of sexual expression. In addition, she will cover issues such as coercion/manipulation, abuse versus sexual health, and how to help clients who are even considering such a life choice. Angela will discuss how clinicians can develop an accepting attitude. She also wants to help clinicians understand the topic enough that if they could see abuse coming, they could respectfully address this with a client who is a proponent of this lifestyle.
